Job Description: Responsible for taking new, improved, and optimized products from concept through successful commercialization by utilizing skills in formulation, company quality systems and procedures, product and consumer testing, and translation from bench to large scale production. Conduct product validation and specification development for new and existing products. Responsible for migrating to cleaner labels and better nutrition as well as transitioning from older production methods to newer, longer shelf life and shelf stable production standards. Interface directly with the rest of the CP Commercial Team. Lead technical components of new product development and commercialization projects by coordinating activities of a cross functional team. Manages artwork routing and approval and acts as a point of contact for all stakeholders in the process. Manages product specifications in Product Data Hub and ensures accurate Bill of Materials (BOM’s) for existing and new items. Coordinates item setup and activation in product life cycle management software. Coordinate plant trial and provide technical guidance for scale up and commercialization of new products. Design and coordinate pilot testing and consumer testing with outside test facilities and present test results to cross functional team. Serve as Darigold’s technical contact on co-manufacturing projects. Work with purchasing and external ingredient vendors to select raw materials for a given product. Present iterative prototypes/concepts to business team members and make technical recommendations to meet project objectives. Identifies and presents new and innovative technical solutions and product ideas to broader organization. Supports cost savings initiatives through ingredient, product, and process optimization. Provides technical support to Marketing and Sales as required. Provides troubleshooting support at the plant level as need arises. Travel is required domestically 25% of the time. Partial remote work (hybrid) is allowed for the position.

Job Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Manufacturing, Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology or related field. Requires 5 years of progressive, post-Bachelor’s work experience. Must have experience in each of the following skills: 3 years working in a Consumer Products Environment; Food composition and testing analysis, central location test design, and product nutrient profile design; Food laws and regulations; Pilot testing and scale up trial execution in a manufacturing environment; Shelf-life study designing, consumer test designs;  Ingredient application and prototyping; Analytical equipment and handling including particle size analyzer, colorimeter, pH meter and refractometer; Statistical methodologies including descriptive statistics, ANOVA (Analysis of Variance); Sensory analysis methodologies including hedonic scale and preference liking tests, and discrimination tests (triangle, tetrad and descriptive analysis); Flavoring systems, hydrocolloids, antimicrobial systems, colors, probiotics, cultures, fermentation, enzymes, sweeteners, vitamins, proteins, and fats; Dairy foods and fluid milk related specifics including pasteurization, HTST, starter cultures; Management of technical functions (sensory program, shelf-life testing, label legal claims, product specifications, product improvements, nutritional labeling, and artwork approval); and Project management tools and GENESIS.
