- Integral part of the team.
- Works closely with the cardiologist to provide expert cardiac care.
- Escorts patients to rooms and assists in determining medical problems.
- Obtains pertinent medical records.
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment.
- Takes patient histories and vital signs.
- Prepares exam rooms and instruments for examination and/or testing.
- Stocks supplies.
- Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls.
- Instructs patients and family regarding medications, test results and treatment instructions which are provided by the physician.
- Assists in the referral process.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational/Licensing:
- Graduation from an approved medical office assistant program.
- Certification as a MOA from the American Association of Medical Assistants required.
- BLS certification required.
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two to three years relevant experience.
- Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care.
- Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications.
- Skills in taking vital signs.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively with physicians, patients and co-workers.
- Must be flexible and a quick learner.
- Ability to multi-task and float to any position.
- Demonstrates the ability to navigate several computer applications.
- Ability to operate all technical office equipment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and confidentiality in dealing with others, in person, electronically and on the telephone.
- Able to perform work accurately and within rigid time frames.
