What You Will Be Doing:
If you’re looking for meaningful work that improves lives and strengthens public health, consider joining us as a Disease Intervention Specialist 1. This role is crucial in enhancing sexual health outcomes across Alaska. We offer comprehensive services to those exposed to or living with HIV and other STIs, ensuring everyone has access to necessary care.
Main duties include:
- Maintaining accurate and confidential surveillance records for STI and HIV prevention and care.
- Partnering with healthcare providers and community organizations to improve access to testing, treatment, and ongoing support.
- Conducting home visits for testing and support, including transporting clients and engaging with unhoused individuals.

Special Notice:
- Requires occasional travel within the State (generally one trip ranging from 3-7 days in length, potentially occurring biannually).

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or experience in public health, health administration, nursing, epidemiology, health sciences, education, health education, community health, emergency medical services, psychology, social sciences, biological sciences, social work, or a closely related field.

The nature of responsibilities and work environment may involve exposure to infectious diseases and/or biohazards.
“Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.
“Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.
“Training” and “education” in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. Minimum Qualifications
At the time of the interview, please provide the following:
