About the Department
The Director of Campus Life at Glenville State University is responsible for the planning, coordinating, and implementing co-curricular student programs, activities, and events that complement and enhance the campus life experience. The core responsibilities for this position will be student activities, student organization oversight, and student engagement. The Director of Campus Life will support the mission and values of Glenville State University and serve as a mentor to students. This position is a key member of the University’s Student Life team and reports to the Executive Director of Student Life.
Position Duties
- Direct student social, cultural, and educational activities, programs, and events
- Negotiate agency contracts for events, performers, and services necessary to facilitate programming
- Oversee the University’s student organizations, student leaders, and faculty/staff advisors by providing direction, support, and oversight
- Coordinate with student organizations and the Student Government Association to host events
- Design, develop, and distribute promotional materials for all student activities and programs
- Manage budgets related to student activities, events, and campus life
- Coordinate use of campus kiosks by student organizations
- Maintain and publish a calendar of campus events and ensure the Student Life webpage is up-to-date with current information
- Oversee and advise the Student Activities Board
- Assist with New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, Homecoming, and GSU Week Activities
- Oversee the University’s “Blue Madness” school spirit program while working with key campus partners including: Athletics, Fine Arts, and etc.
- Conduct and produce the annual co-curricular assessment report
- Write routine reports and correspondence and assist with the development of project and program materials
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Life
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree highly suggested with a Master’s degree preferred. Prior experience in working with students in a higher education setting is preferred. Positive attitude, good communication skills, written and verbal, and conflict resolution skills are a must.
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience is acceptable which provides an applicant the listed knowledge, skills, and abilities and the capability to perform the essential functions of the job.
