The Operations Value Add Repair Team Leader is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of their assigned department. This includes managing inventory, maintaining supply levels, answering quality-related questions, conducting audits, and keeping Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions up to date. This role also directly supports the team with Chromebook and MacBook repairs and teardowns, ensuring that value is added to every device and service that passes through the department. In addition, the Team Leader applies advanced technical repair skills—including hardware diagnostics, component-level repairs, and software troubleshooting—to guide and support team performance and ensure high-quality output.
Essential Functions
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date LMS board with metrics for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and HPU.
Track daily performance using the Hour-by-Hour board, updating it with delivery goals and actual results.
Perform routine quality checks on team members’ work, ensuring proper grading, cleanliness, and accurate item root data for each device.
Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure the team has the inventory needed to maintain workflow.
Keep the supply cabinet fully stocked with necessary materials and tools.
Assist team members by answering questions related to product quality and repair standards.
Help plan inventory needs for the upcoming day to support continuous workflow.
Submit daily Quality and Delivery metrics.
Update Work Instructions and SOPs as processes evolve or improve.
Conduct work audits as necessary to maintain operational excellence.
Restock MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) supplies as needed.
Troubleshoot failed devices and identify root causes of issues.
Plan next day labor allocation based on production goals and prioritize which models in inventory should be worked on next.
Maintain and update the repair skill matrix daily.
Oversee end-of-day cleaning to ensure a clean and organized workspace.
Technical Repair Responsibilities
Systematically diagnose and troubleshoot both hardware and software issues using appropriate tools and processes.
Repair and replace hardware components such as screens, batteries, ports, buttons, motherboards, and internal parts.
Perform precise soldering and micro-soldering for detailed circuit board repairs.
Troubleshoot software across multiple operating systems, including iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Reinstall software, recover data, and perform firmware and driver updates.
Read and interpret electronic schematics and service manuals for complex diagnostics.
Use a range of tools including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic equipment for detailed repair work.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Informal leadership: Determines work assignments, priorities, and procedures for team members. Responsible for assigning, scheduling, and ensuring the quality and quantity of work. May or may not approve time off and schedule adjustments. Provides training and coaching.
