Overview:

Position is responsible for assisting in maintaining general ledger account balances, in conformity with Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Assists in preparing accurate monthly financial reports. Reconciles and validates organization’s general ledger accounts. Reviews reports for inconsistencies and inaccuracies. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

 

Note: (For NJ candidates) This role will be located at our future headquarters in Short Hills, N.J. Until the new headquarters is operational, the successful candidate will be offered the ability to work in our Branchville, N.J. location during this interim period. 

Responsibilities:
  • Analyzes general ledger account balances.
  • Completes routine accounting assignments.
  • Reviews and analyzes financial statement accounts for accuracy, budget variance and unusual trends.
  • Maintains fixed asset accounts.
  • Ensures that comprehensive accounting records are maintained in an organized manner.
  • Advises management of any unusual trends, budget variances, difficulties obtaining information or other pending issues.
  • Continuously assesses internal systems and recommends changes that would allow greater efficiency in monthly processing.
  • Maintains and reconciles general ledger account balances.
  • Posts journal entries and prepares analysis schedules.
  • Assists with month-end close processes.
Qualifications:

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Statutory or GAAP knowledge preferred
  • Good communications skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.

Pay Range:USD $60,000.00 - USD $83,000.00 /Yr.Additional Information:
