POSITION SUMMARY:
Clinical Lab Instructors at the University of Providence, School of Health Professions, play a pivotal role in delivering quality clinical education to students enrolled in the Medical Assistant program. These instructors are leaders, educators, advisors, and facilitators within the clinical lab environment, dedicated to preparing students to be competent, confident, and skilled healthcare professionals. Reporting to the Program Director, Clinical Lab Instructors are contracted for specific hours allocated to clinical courses, ensuring flexibility and alignment with program needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess students' clinical competencies and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and program directors to achieve program goals.
- Stay current with best practices in medical assisting and clinical education.
- Integrate technology and simulation tools into lab instruction.
- Offer support and guidance to students to ensure their success.
- Maintain active Medical Assistant and BLS/CPR certifications.
- Foster a positive and high-quality learning environment.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for students.
- Ensure learner satisfaction and achievement of program outcomes.
- Participate in the design, assessment, and evaluation of clinical courses.
- Coordinate, deliver, and manage the clinical lab.
- Utilize a personal laptop for university systems and software.
- Contribute to School of Health Professions committees.
- Adhere to employment agreements, university policies, and legal regulations.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Certified Medical Assistant in good standing (Preferred: NHA CCMA Certification)
- Current BLS/CPR Certification
- EPIC Trained
Preferred:
- Minimum of an associate degree in Allied Health (clinical, science, etc.)
EXPERIENCE:
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, educational theories, and teaching techniques.
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a Clinical Lab Instructor, with experience in online teaching within a healthcare-related field.
- Experience in developing clinical lab skills curriculum, including online curriculum development, and documented experience in program evaluation.
