Human Resources Generalist
$70,000- $75,000
- Serve as a confidential and impartial resource for employee concerns and recommend corrective actions.
- Promote positive employee relations by advising and coaching supervisors and employees on policy interpretation and best practices.
- In collaboration with the Support Center Human Resources department, lead and/or assist with conducting thorough, timely and compliant investigations into employee complaints, including but not limited to allegations of harassment, discrimination, workplace disagreements, and policy violations.
- Facilitate the leave of absence process for employees and ensure they are provided with timely notifications, collect supporting documentation and provide ongoing support to employees as needed.
- Serve as the facility’s primary contact for managing the workers’ compensation process including overseeing reporting of workplace injuries, coordinating with injured employees regarding modified duty placements and facilitating return to work protocols.
- Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to facility planning, culture-building initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Guide department heads in performance review and disciplinary action processes including delivering ongoing feedback and how to document appropriately.
- Process personnel actions such as rate changes, role changes, status changes, terminations, etc.
- Facilitate or assist with facilitating new employee orientations including creation of employee files, submission of new hire documentation and I-9 verification.
- Ensure ongoing compliance by completing licensure verifications, I-9 reverifications, annual background checks and other required verifications.
- Maintain employee files and ensure ongoing employment documentation is accurately filed and kept according to company policy and federal and state laws.
- Act as the liaison to the Support Center Human Resources department.
- Participate in candidate interviews and assist department heads with hiring decisions.
- Oversee onboarding processes for new employees.
- Disseminate updated policies to employees, answers questions on changes, tracks receipt of signed acknowledgements and updates employment files with documentation as appropriate.
- Support the administration of employee benefits (health insurance, 401k, EAP, etc.) through ongoing communication with employees and ensuring compliance with deadlines.
- Collaborate with other departments to facilitate employee recognition and engagement programs.
- Enforce HR policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations (including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, EEO, etc.) and in compliance with the Generations Healthcare Employee Handbook.
- Assist with ensuring compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement in effect for eligible employees (as applicable).
- Maintain knowledge of current regulatory requirements in the long-term care industry that affect human resources policies.
- Partner with the Employee Services Coordinator to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing as needed
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment law, human resources policies, procedures and best practices, and workplace investigations.
- Knowledge of human resources related healthcare practices such as licensure, staffing requirements, etc. preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent computer skills including use of Microsoft O365 or similar tools for productivity, organization and communication.
- Ability to work independently and exercise discretion and independent judgment in matters of significance.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented setting, utilizing other’s skills and knowledge, sharing information and supporting team outcomes.
- Ability to handle highly confidential matters, including employee pay information, with integrity, compassion, discretion and professionalism.

- Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field preferred; relevant experience may be substituted for education.
- Minimum of 2 years HR experience in a healthcare or skilled nursing environment preferred.
