STARTING HOURLY RATE: $16.41 - $17.16 (PLACEMENT DEPENDS ON SIMILAR EXPERIENCE HELD AND EDUCATION)

SUMMARY:
The Service Assistant performs general clerical functions, operates office equipment and provides general assistance in the program to which assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists in the preparation of materials by typing, copying, faxing and distributing materials as requested by the department.
- Purchases supplies for assigned department; maintains records of purchases.
- Maintains and updates individual student folders and student records.
- Types reports and memorandums.
- Operates office equipment.
- Prepares requisitions and other District forms.
- Prepares and handles department mailings as needed.
- Maintains records and filing systems.
- Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND six months of general clerical experience.
License and Certification Requirements:
A valid Arizona Driver's License is required.
Possess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within the first 90 workdays of employment.

- Ability to operate a variety of office machines and equipment, ability to operate a computer preferred.
- Skill in understanding, explaining, and applying relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Skill in researching and compiling data for reports, presentations, and technical documents.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.
