About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate’s training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

Job Summary

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Human Resources Supervisor-Classified, perform a variety of technical duties in support of various classified human resources functions and transactions; prepare, maintain and update a variety of manual and automated personnel records, reports and files; serve as a technical resource to employees, applicants and others regarding assigned personnel functions.

Required Documents

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and three years’ experience working with classified human resources functions. SELECTION & EXAMINATION: The selection process will consist of a competitive application packet screening for completeness and qualifications. Am application evaluation (weighted 10%) and an oral interview (weighted 90%) will be conducted. A passing score must be achieved on each portion of the exams. Final selection will be made from those who achieve the three highest ranking scores.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate for the Human Resources Technician II – Classified position is a detail-oriented and customer-focused professional with a strong background in human resources. The successful candidate is highly skilled in maintaining accurate and confidential personnel records and demonstrates proficiency in HR information systems and Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas, functions, and data analysis tools to prepare reports and ensure data accuracy. They bring strong problem-solving skills, exercise sound judgment, and thrive in a fast-paced office environment with frequent interruptions. This individual is organized, flexible, and able to work independently while meeting strict timelines. Above all, they are a collaborative team player who values accuracy, confidentiality, and efficiency in all aspects of their work.
