Elementary School Overview: The Elementary School serves approximately 750 students in grades K-4. Our staff of over 80 dedicated educators works collaboratively to provide all students with the tools needed to become successful global citizens. We offer a standards-based curriculum with opportunities for character building and language acquisition from Kindergarten.
Job Summary: The ESL Teacher will be responsible for providing English language instruction to English Language Learners (ELLs), ensuring their success in our academic and social settings. The role involves collaboration with general education teachers and contributing to the development of our ESL curriculum.
Essential Functions:
- Administer screening tools to assess English proficiency of students upon enrollment.
- Deliver systematic, explicit, and sustained English language instruction, focusing on both academic and social language.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support English Language Development across all subjects.
- Provide professional development to staff on effective strategies for supporting ELLs.
- Assist in developing and revising the district-wide ESL curriculum.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance to inform instruction and monitor progress.
- Communicate effectively with families and demonstrate cultural competence.
Marginal Functions:
- Participate in school-wide events and activities outside of regular teaching responsibilities.
- Assist with the administration of ACCESS Testing for students.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the administration that support the mission and vision of FRCS.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work within a standard classroom environment.
- Capability to use a computer and other office equipment.
- Regularly required to speak clearly and hear well.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Qualifications - Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Massachusetts Teaching License in English as a Second Language PreK-6.
- Current authorization to work in the United States.
Qualifications - Preferred:
- Master’s degree.
- Experience in urban school settings.
- Proficiency in differentiated instruction and inclusion settings.
- Experience with academic evaluations and IEPs.
- Strong skills in progress monitoring.
