Position Summary
The Systems Verification Engineer will play a key role in the development of a Class III implantable Neuromodulation system for pain management, working cross functionally to help verify systems and make sure that all stakeholders are aligned, and needs are met.
Essential Functions
Serves as a technical test lead and subject matter expert for system, sub-system, and/or module- level verification and validation test efforts including ownership of test strategy and ensuring buy-in from cross-functional stakeholders.
Be accountable to a large scope of complex project deliverables and technical documentation such as engineering reports, verification plans, procedures and reports, and validation plans and reports. Works with Quality and Regulatory Engineers for the release and submission of technical documents.
Reviews and evaluates system and product requirements for correctness, completeness and testability. Analyzes and allocates a set of requirements into an appropriate set of verification tests, ensuring system coverage and proper tracing.
Performs and analyzes system set up. Leads and directs hands-on system integration testing and troubleshooting of technical issues, working with developers to identify root cause and viable resolutions and ensuring issues found are well and appropriately documented and bug fixes of software defects are verified.
Determines high-level test strategy and writes clear test descriptions. Drives the design, development, updates, execution, and debugging of hardware, software and/or system tests (manual, interactive, automated). Ensures cross-functional reviews of the test protocol development (test strategy, test design, test code) are being performed.
Completes regression, dry, and formal verification runs for multiple firmware and software releases at appropriate times in the development cycle.
Oversees junior level team members for technical mentoring and guidance for initiative and projects. Plans, conducts, and directs assignments, managing tasks for a small team of verification engineers.
Provides estimates for verification effort and resources required, generates testing metrics, provides input on projects to a budget manager, and gives periodic status updates to broader team and management as necessary.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent degree/major required. Years of experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
8+ years with a Bachelor’s degree, 6 years with a Master’s degree, or 3 years with a PhD – related experience with development or verification in the medical device industry. (class III medical device experience preferred).
Experience in Systems Engineering as related to stakeholder needs definition, creation of use case workflows, requirements definition and decomposition, functional architecture, and system design.
Experience scripting with high-level programming languages such as Python or PHP.
Proficient with C# [.NET] or other equivalent development tools for creating automated tests.
Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, power supplies and other standard lab equipment.
Working knowledge of IEC 60601, ISO 14708, IEC 62304 strongly desired.
Experience with RF communications systems and active implantable systems strongly desired.
Knowledge of C and an understanding of embedded firmware strong desired.
Risk management (risk analysis, FMEA, ISO 14971) experience strongly desired.
Ability to work on multiple projects in a deadline driven environment, driving operational efficiency.
Ability to provide creativity while solving complex technical problems without known solutions.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills (written and verbal).
Strong track record of working in cross-functional teams.
Thorough and high attention to detail.
