Oxy’s Summer Intern Program runs from May to August for a full 12 weeks. As an Oxy intern, you will have the opportunity to experience real-life projects with hands-on participation in Oxy’s core businesses. Your summer project will be designed to add value to our operations while providing an opportunity to observe your skills and competencies in action. Oxy interns are paired with a manager and mentor in order to provide technical guidance throughout the project timeline. In addition to attending training and development courses, lunch and learns, field trips, and social activities, interns will be given the chance to meet with Oxy executives and leadership throughout the internship. OxyChem is looking for entry-level individuals pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering to fill the position of Process Engineer.
Description
Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products as our highest priority.
Identify, evaluate, develop, specify, justify, install, and start-up process improvements to increase production capacity, improve operating reliability, reduce manufacturing costs, reduce energy usage, conserve raw materials, improve product yields and improve product quality.
Participate in any opportunity to enhance safety, upgrade environmental safeguards, and provide for the overall optimization of process operation.
Provide ongoing engineering assistance to operations including troubleshooting of process operating problems, conducting special tests, developing reports, providing technical assistance as required and reporting of production status.
Prepare AFE’s for ‘plant scale’ capital projects, and follow these projects to a successful completion.
Represent and/or assist production and engineering in matters of evaluation, selection and coordination and control of vendors supplying necessary operating services, consulting services, materials, equipment and other needs of operation.
Qualifications
Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
Must maintain minimum cumulative 2.85 GPA on a 4.0 scale
Minimum 2 extracurricular and/or work activities
Must have a graduation date between December 2026 – May 2028
Must be willing to relocate
