About the Position
Reporting to the Dean of Student Life, the Director of Health and Wellbeing Education will develop and implement strategies for promoting comprehensive wellness education with a specific focus on sexual health and positivity, sexual and relationship violence prevention, body image and disordered eating, and alcohol and other drug education. The Director will be cognizant of the current higher education landscape regarding student wellbeing and implement programming tied to the FORD Life co-curricular plan. The Director will collaborate broadly with students, staff, and faculty to execute a campus-wide approach to sexual violence prevention and education, including a specific focus on bystander awareness and intervention. The Director supervises a team of student peer educators to assist with programming and outreach. The Director also serves as a confidential resource for students.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead campus partners in designing and implementing educational programming that addresses sexual and relationship violence, healthy relationships (consent and boundaries), alcohol and other drugs, body image and disordered eating, holistic wellbeing, and bystander intervention. This responsibility includes overseeing and expanding the offerings of Bringing in the Bystander and the EVERYbody Project
- Hire, train, and supervise student peer educators (including NASPA Certified Peer Educator training) and support student groups related to wellness and sexual violence prevention
- Serve as a confidential resource for students
- In partnership with the Director of Civil Rights and Title IX Coordinator, recruit, train, and provide ongoing support to a group of faculty and staff who serve as confidential resources for complainants and respondents in Title IX cases, ensuring their approach is trauma-informed, equity-minded, and attentive to the risks of vicarious trauma
- Educate the campus community about public health and prevention frameworks that can inform work with students and on campus in other settings
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and continual review of practices, policies, and initiatives associated with prevention strategies to ensure that is trauma-informed, responsive to the needs of our diverse student population, and aligned with institutional policies and state and federal requirements
- Work closely with the Director of Civil Rights and Title IX Coordinator, Student Health, and Counseling and Psychological Services to develop programming specifically for targeted student audiences that aligns with the college mission and meets federal requirements
- Coordinate and deliver Party Host training, review social event requests to verify host certification, and maintain supply inventory for Party Host Kits
- Serve as a resource for referrals from alcohol and drug violations from the student conduct process and the Divisional Case Manager and Care Team
- Coordinate and participate in events and campaigns related to Sexual Health Awareness Month (September) and Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April), including student-led programming and collaborative efforts across campus
- Develop and deliver trainings throughout the academic year including during Customs (New Student Orientation) and for the Don’t Cancel Class offerings
- Establish and maintain community partnerships to deploy comprehensive harm reduction strategies and strengthen advocacy support resources. Some examples include the Delaware County Victim Assistance Center and Laurel House
- Leverage technology to educate students through multiple media on important health and safety information. Manage prevention and education marketing and promotion efforts, including website, social media (@hcwellbeing), and print resources like the Stall Street Journal
- Maximize the potential of the Student Wellness Space in the Whitehead Campus Center to balance programming and relaxation
- Identify external funding and grant opportunities to support wellness education.
- In accordance with the NCAA policy on campus sexual violence, provide education to coaches and student-athletes on sexual violence prevention, intervention, and response
- Maintain a resource catalog of community organizations and resources related to wellbeing
- Serve as the instructor of record for the Intro to Health and Wellbeing Wellness Credit course
- Serve on Division and College committees as assigned. This includes participation in committees that promote health and wellbeing
Line of Report: The Director of Health and Wellbeing Education reports to the Dean of Student Life.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Development, Counseling, Public Health, or a related field
- 3 years of demonstrated experience in design, implementation, and evaluation of prevention and education programs to affect cultural change among college students, arts college
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of prevention work in sexual misconduct and power-based personal violence, the psychological impact of trauma and implications for advocacy, prevention research and best practices related to the college campus setting, and federal and state legislation related to sexual violence prevention and response

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively:
- Promote diversity and competency in working with diverse student populations, including students of color, LGBTQIA+, first-generation, undocumented+, and international students
- Balance consensus-driven decision-making and leadership authority
- Maintain an understanding of current scholarly work and promising practices in health and wellness education
- Develop robust assessment plans for measuring success of programs and engaging in continuous improvement
- Communicate effectively with a variety of campus constituents both in writing and orally/in person, particularly by designing and delivering presentations
- Utilize appropriate technologies
- Show exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years of experience in violence prevention, health promotion, case management, counseling, student affairs, public health, or a related field
- 3 years of demonstrated experience in design, implementation, and evaluation of prevention and education programs to affect cultural change among college students at a residential liberal arts college
- Experience with case management software like Maxient, Advocate, or Titanium
- Experience with Peer Educator supervision and programming
