$64,702 to $75,055 pa + 12% employer contribution to superannuation

EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
Permanent Full Time

THE POSITION:
To provide concreting and laboring assistance with construction works to ensure cost effective and timely completion of construction and maintenance programs to the required standard.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Undertake boxing, forming, placing and finishing concrete.
  • Undertake set-up and kerb & gutter extrusion
  • Assist with pipe and culvert laying.
  • Undertake general labouring duties on construction sites.
  • Fixing and tying steel reinforcement.
  • Constructing and building formwork.
  • All associated reinstatement works.
  • Traffic Control and signage as necessary.
  • Operation of plant and truck driving as necessary.
  • Carry out plant/truck maintenance and complete weekly service reports.
  • Use relevant skills to assist other areas within the Infrastructure, Planning & Environment Directarate.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
  • Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.
  • Observe appropriate AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding day to day operations including Equal Employment Opportunity policies, AlburyCity's Dress Code and Standards Policy and AlburyCity's Code of Conduct.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Based on a 38 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 4.00pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines. These times may vary due to operational requirements and will be determined by the supervisor. 
  • This position may involve work outside normal working hours. This will be in agreement with your supervisor and any additional hours will attract the appropriate loadings.
  • In line with the provisions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023 you will also receive the Level 1, Adverse Working Conditions Allowance, in line with the award.
  • This position will be provided with vaccination against the following infectious diseases:
    • Hepatitis B
  • This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
  • This position involves working in a predominantly outdoor environment where a varying range of temperatures, weather conditions and walking surfaces may be experienced. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. The use of relevant work method statements and appropriate WHS standards are an integral part of the role. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position.
  • This position is subject to pre-employment and ongoing respiratory function testing for potential occupational exposure to crystalline silica in accordance with AlburyCity procedures.
  • This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing.
  • This position is at the Albury/Lavington Depots, and daily visits to external sites/depots, and AlburyCity Administration Building as required.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Certificate III in Civil Construction, and/or extensive relevant experience
  • Class C (standard) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have & maintain)
  • Construction Induction Card

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Traffic Control Certificate (Blue or Yellow)
  • Medium Rigid (MR) Drivers Licence
  • Confined Spaces Certificate

EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant experience working in a civil construction and maintenance environment

SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Experience and demonstrated ability in:
    • Concrete technology
    • Civil construction methods
    • Various plant operations
    • Roads and traffic rules and regulations
    • Various types of pipe laying and drainage
    • Trenching techniques and methods
    • Work Health and Safety (WHS)
  • Fundamental literacy skills in receiving and executing instructions.
