SUMMARY

General production position utilizing manual and automated processes to manufacture fiberglass products.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (duties may vary depending on department)

  1. Work on-site in Hastings, Michigan (not a remote position)
  2. Comply with and adhere to applicable safety and work rules and requirements
  3. Work independently and with other members of the department to fill work orders
  4. Operate specialized table at waist height to align and roll sheets of fiberglass cloth around steel mandrels
  5. Use lathe to wrap nylon around fiberglass-covered mandrels in a range of diameters; hang wrapped mandrels on metal carts and push in walk-in oven; operate oven to required settings
  6. Assemble parts by hand 
  7. Maintain required production rates
  8. Use hand tools such as utility knife, pliers, scissors, and hammer
  9. Identify and produce blanks by part number
  10. Maintain manual production records
  11. Perform marking of blank components according to instructions and specifications
  12. Perform inspection of components by examining them for adherence to quality standards
  13. Read and understand patterns, drawings, and work instructions
  14. Assist in other areas of the production floor as needed
  15. Maintain clean and safe working environments in assigned areas
  16. Comply with and adhere to all applicable ISO standards
  17. Performs other duties as assigned

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong hand-eye coordination
  • Can tolerate warm/non-air conditioned factory environment including use of walk-in oven through shift to retrieve racks of parts
  • Use of personal protective equipment as required
  • Ability to use hand tools such as utility knife, pliers, and hammer and operate machinery 
  • Ability to lift and maneuver 5-ft. steel mandrels from waist to shoulder height
  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing facility preferred
  • Ability to take direction and follow instructions
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to adapt to challenges and changes that arise in course of the day (e.g., equipment malfunctions and changes in production schedule)
  • Positively contribute as a member of a team of co-workers
