Position Summary:
The Education Specialist will assist Pathways participants in exploring and pursuing post-secondary training and education and will serve as the Pathways liaison to institutions that offer educational, training, and certification programs. The Educational Specialist will cultivate and manage relationships between Easterseals Crossroads and Circles of Indianapolis, to support Pathways participants in Circles of Indianapolis.

Essential Functions:
1. Administer assessments to assist participants in career exploration and identification of a job goal.
2. Advise and educate the Pathways program staff on opportunities and the necessary training, education, and qualifications for potential candidates.
3. Assist participants in identifying, exploring, and applying for educational, training, and certification opportunities.
4. Provides tutoring and assistance to participants who wish to enhance their literacy skills and/or obtain their HSE or high school diploma.
5. Assist participants in preparing for the driver’s license permit test.
6. Provide individual tutoring to help participants navigate post-secondary training classes and prepare for and pass exams.
7. Serve as a liaison between Circles of Indianapolis and Easterseals Crossroads.
8. Ensure that referral sheets are completed for each Circles referral.
9. Attend Thursdays Circles meetings.
10. Track and document attendance for Circles enrollees.
11. Document participants progress in Circles programs and meetings.
12. Assist with planning and arrangements for Circles trainings.
Education, Licenses, Certification:
· Bachelor’s degree in education, Human Services, or related field preferred. Relevant work experience may be substituted for a degree. Training and/experience in teaching, training, and group facilitation highly desired.
· A current, valid Indiana Driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
Experience required:
Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or disadvantaged populations is highly preferred.
Working Hours:
37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday; work is primarily performed during the day, with one evening per week required to attend Circles. (Thursday evenings from 6 pm to 8:30 pm) Must be flexible and willing to work evenings or weekends to attend special functions if necessary.
