GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This is an OR dedicated assignment for those technologists who prefer the OR environment over clinical x-ray. Our East Bay Surgery Center is an outpatient ASC that hosts a variety of interesting and engaging OR cases and Pain Management injections. The X-ray technologist must be responsible for operating the Large C-arm (GE 9900 Elite) during the case and will be required to be able to take quality images within the confines of a sterile environment. Some of the cases that are performed in our surgery center that require the assistance of our x-ray technologists are: Anterior total hip arthroplasty, Total Shoulder Arthroplasty, Fixation cases of the Clavicle, Humerus, and Ankle. Spinal Fusions (2-3 levels), Kyphoplasty's, Spinal Cord Stimulators, and Post-Operative imaging.
The X-Ray Technologist will be working in tandem with other X-Ray Technologists to cover the needs of the department and be required to be a team player in terms of helping one another out. This could involve cross coverage in clinics. We firmly believe in a collaborative effort from our department to support each other with breaks or closing coverage.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure equipment is functioning properly and report any malfunctions to the lead technologist.
- Properly Identify and prepare patients for radiologic procedures and performs x-ray exams following established protocols and procedures for patient care and safety.
- Accurately select the correct patient, anatomy, and protocols to complete exam.
- Confirm, schedule and log completed radiologic procedures in computer and site schedules.
- Clean and maintain equipment and examination rooms at all times.
- Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Manager to meet department needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Two years of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology
. - American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (R) (ARRT) registration or pending registration
- Current CPR/ BLS certification
- Ability to slide patients on and off X-ray stretchers to X-ray table, and push and pull objects greater than 20lbs throughout the day.
- Ability to push and pull stretchers holding patients of various weight and body habitus.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide basic x-ray procedures.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and body mechanics is necessary to safely perform x-ray exams.
- Basic knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
- Basic understanding of computer functions necessary to perform x-ray exams.
- Ability to communicate clearly and provide routine diagnostic imaging procedures to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients with consideration to cultural and developmental stages during the exam process.
- Ability to establish effective relationships with providers, staff, patients, and families.
- One year of customer service experience in a health care setting is preferred.
- Special consideration given for prior orthopedic clinical experience.
- Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary.
