Position Overview:
Sugar Creek Charter School is seeking a passionate and dynamic High School Environmental Science/Forensics Teacher to join our science department. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the natural world and scientific investigation, fostering critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and real-world application. This teacher will design and deliver engaging curriculum in both environmental science and forensic science, aligning with state and national standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional lessons in Environmental Science and Forensics to high school students.
  • Develop a classroom environment that supports inquiry-based learning, scientific reasoning, and student collaboration.
  • Integrate laboratory investigations, hands-on experiments, field studies, and case studies.
  • Utilize diverse instructional strategies and technology to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Assess student performance regularly using both formative and summative tools.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity and respect for science, ethics, and environmental stewardship.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary connections and co-curricular opportunities.
  • Sponsor or support extracurricular clubs or activities related to science (e.g., Eco Club, Forensics Team).
  • Stay current with developments in science education and participate in professional learning.

Qualifications:
 
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Valid state teaching certification/license in secondary science education.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Experience with lab safety and investigative techniques.
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in science education or a related scientific field.
  • Prior high school teaching experience.
  • Experience with Advanced Placement (AP) Environmental Science or similar advanced coursework.
  • Familiarity with environmental and forensic case-based teaching strategies.
  • Experience organizing fieldwork or community-based environmental projects.
