SUMMARY: Planning, supervision and implementation of the Kindergarten - Fifth Grade school-age programs in accordance with Child Care Licensing and Fowlerville Commmunity Schools district policies. Develop and foster relationships, with families of the children enrolled in the classroom.

- Maintain a working knowledge of expected child development performance standards and their relationship to center's curriculum, assessments and procedures.
- Serve as a resource in identification, selection and use of instructional materials, as well as assisting the school-age staff in implementing this in their classrooms.
- Assist with special programs and events; prepare school-age lesson plans, activities, and set-up.
- Create a safe, engaging and supportive classroom environment.
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding and determining placement roles for school-age staff, through support, training and understanding of their talents and individual needs to implement best practice for children and families.
- Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of program space.
- Assist in determining school-age staff availability and staff schedules for school year, school half days, school closed days and summer camp.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to insure proper licensing ratios
- Ensure staff support for consistently enforcing classroom, playground and gym rules.
- Encourage problem solving among children using positive reinforcement, redirection, effective communication and appropriate consequences.
- Communicate with families about student activities and daily needs through meetings, newsletters, emails and phone call on a regular basis.
- Make the safety, emotional and social needs of the children the highest priority at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience working with school-age children in a child care setting
- Strong leadership skills, creative and outgoing with a positive attitude and will to care for the needs of young students
- Excellent organizational skills
- Basic understanding, knowledge and use of current technology
Preferred Qualifications:
- Michigan school-age development credential
- Child care administration credential
- Previous experience as a Lead Teacher, Assistant Director or Leader in a child care setting
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be physically present, regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust, focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise students when the teacher is temporarily absent.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports
- Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract and multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to assess areas and activities for potential safety issues.
- Ability to assist students, parents, and team members with interpersonal issues.
