Escuela Popular (EP) was established in 1986 as a grassroots community school to address the growing demand for English instruction in East San Jose. Within its first year, the school experienced rapid growth in enrollment and expanded its student body, class offerings, and services to meet the increasing need. Job Summary

POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking a Student Engagement Specialist to join our team and support adult learners in achieving both academic success and personal growth. This position plays a vital role in building connections between students, their families, the school, and the community. The Specialist will design and lead workshops, coordinate events, and provide resources that help students thrive in and outside the classroom. This is a dynamic role for someone passionate about education, community engagement, and student well-being. This position requires working on the evening shift at least 3 times per week, possibly more depending on the need. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES -Provide individual and group support to adult learners, addressing academic, social, and emotional needs. -Connect students and families with school and community resources. -Organize and facilitate workshops on topics such as parenting, communication, workplace readiness, emotional wellness, and access to healthcare. -Support crisis response efforts for students experiencing socio-emotional distress. -Plan and coordinate community engagement events (e.g., Community Nights, School Pantry distributions, Mercadito). -Build partnerships with external organizations to enhance student and family support. -Collaborate with teachers, staff, and community partners to monitor student progress and strengthen engagement. -Provide training and guidance to staff on student support and engagement best practices. REQUIRED -Bachelor’s -Two (2+) years of community outreach experience, particularly with families experiencing trauma or crisis. (Highly Preferred) -CPR Certification (Required) -Bilingual in English and Spanish (Highly Preferred)
