Job Description

Definition:
Under general supervision conducts home visitations and generally provides a broad range of liaison duties between the school and community; assists parents in understanding school procedures, programs and goals and assists the school in maintaining contact and communication with the parents it serves; to do related work as may be required.

Examples of Duties
Contacts parents at their homes, in person or by phone, obtaining information about students which will help teachers and provide information to the parents about the school and its policies and programs; informs parents of child’s progress and problems; promotes a positive relationship between home, school, and community; makes referrals to community agencies for needs relating to welfare, housing, family counseling and employment; assists the school nurse in conducting home visits, health screening programs, immunization follow-up; processes and verifies information required for various Federal, State, and District surveys and reports; encourages parental school involvement and promotes attendance and participation in workshops, meetings, and advisory committees, assists in verification of attendance records, posts attendance records from Master Attendance cards to Attendance Gathering Reports; assists parents with applications for services and transportation to appointments; maintains records of home visits and referrals made; takes home children who become ill or for other reasons cannot remain at school; attends a variety of meetings during and after working hours; may perform a variety of related clerical and typing duties.


Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: Basic principles of public education systems, intercultural programs and relationships, and child growth, development and behavioral patterns; community resources related to children and parental needs; local school district and its educational goals and objectives.

Ability to: Maintain and establish effective personal relationships with children, parents, teachers, and other school district personnel; understand and interpret school programs and policies; counsel and reassure parents and to encourage their participation in school activities; speak before school related groups; communicate in the language of the community; exercise leadership in integrating child-school relationships; organize individual or group programs; explain, confer, mediate, or train as appropriate to situations presented; follow methods and procedural guidelines; maintain efficient office operations; prepare reports.

Education and Experience
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Special Requirements
Licenses: Possession of a valid California Driver's License
Automobile: Incumbents may be required to furnish a car and be willing to drive in the performance of duties.
Bilingual: Ability to read, write, and translate Spanish or other non-English language may be required for some positions

Requirements / Qualifications

Copy of HS diploma or transcripts showing graduation date or copy of GED Certificate, or copy of TRANSCRIPTS high school graduation date. * Proof of a passing test score for School Community Liaison Aide with Moreno Valley Unified School District, dated within the last 12 months, MUST be attached to this application in order to bypass the testing process for this position.

Salary Info

$22.07 per hour - $29.67 per hour - 3.5 hours per day

Authorization of employment will not be granted until the fingerprint clearance from DOJ has been accepted.
