JOB TITLE: Director of Buildings and Grounds
REPORTS TO: Business Manager
SUPERVISES: Maintenance and Custodial Staff
EMPLOYMENT AND FLSA STATUS: Exempt/Salary
POSITION PURPOSE
Direct and manage the maintenance and cleaning of the Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation buildings and grounds. Customer facing professional who will hire and manage staff and work closely with building and corporation administrators to create safe and clean buildings and grounds.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Supervises, schedules, and evaluates all maintenance and custodial personnel.
Supervises the maintenance of all buildings and grounds.
Administers a program for purchasing, storing, and distributing materials, supplies, and equipment for buildings and grounds.
Recommends to the Business Manager the need for equipment purchases.
Examines all buildings and grounds on a regular basis for needed repairs.
Recommends priorities on all repairs and assigns them to the maintenance and custodial staff.
Inspects all work and assists personnel as needed.
Personally coordinates all emergency repair problems.
Responsible for all facets of Greenfield-Central’s asbestos program.
Coordinates all snow removal operations.
Maintains an up-to-date inventory of all Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation’s property.
Maintains records as required.
Recommends to Superintendent/School Board custodial and maintenance applicants for hire and supervises their training.
Responsible for the record retention program.
Performs all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent/designee or the Business Manager

Excellent troubleshooting skills and an ability to problem-solve to determine a solution.
Highly organized with strong project management skills, and drive to meet organizational and departmental objectives; ability to manage projects on interrelated timelines.
Proven ability to work effectively with all constituents (students, parents, community members and staff).
Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others during the course of the workday and beyond the workday.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an administrator or project manager, preferred
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience and/or knowledge of custodial operations.
Experience and/or knowledge of maintenance operations.
Experience and/or knowledge in using computers for management purposes.
Possess a valid Indiana driver’s license.
Ability to supervise personnel.
Ability to read and interpret documents.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal effectively with a variety of variables.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
Effective communication skills in writing, speaking, and listening.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to carry 50 lbs.
Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
Ability to see for the purpose of reading laws and codes, rules and policies and other printed matter.
Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation.
Ability to operate office equipment.
Ability to reach in all directions.

260 days 12 Month Position
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluations of School Administrators.
