About ALSO.
We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.
ALSO is looking for a Staff Vehicle Fleet Manager to play a key role in defining and supporting how we maximize data ingestion from our vehicle fleet.
What You Will Do
Fleet Campaign & Planning: Define, implement, and oversee the operational strategy for a diverse vehicle testing fleet to support durability, environmental, and performance validation from engineering requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with systems, sub-systems, software, and validation engineering teams to ensure fleet usage aligns with test objectives and development priorities.
Test Execution & Data Collection: Plan and manage vehicle-based validation activities, ensuring accurate data ingestion from real-world use cases, edge case scenarios, and specialized test events.
KPI Development & Monitoring: Establish and maintain fleet utilization and performance KPIs to drive efficiency, reliability, and data-driven decision-making.
Vehicle Preparation & Instrumentation: Coordinate operations for installation, calibration, and operation of advanced instrumentation and measurement equipment (e.g., accelerometers, strain gauges, force transducers, CAN loggers).
Quality & Defect Management: Lead defect triage and issue traceability, ensuring timely root cause analysis and corrective actions coming from the fleet.
Compliance & Homologation Support: Manage vehicle test planning in alignment with global homologation, durability, and safety requirements.
Operational Leadership: Mentor and guide technicians and test operators, fostering best practices in fleet utilization, safety, and reliability engineering.
Process Optimization: Continuously refine fleet operations, logistics, and data workflows to support rapid scaling and high-quality test results.
What You Will Bring
Experience: Engineering or technical degree preferred or 8+ years in vehicle testing, fleet operations, or durability testing, with at least 3 years in a leadership or staff-level role.
Instrumentation & Data Expertise: Deep experience with vehicle instrumentation and data logging systems.
Tools & Platforms: Hands-on experience with requirements management tools (e.g., JAMA), planning platforms (JIRA, Confluence), and automotive communication protocols (CAN, CAN FD, SPI) with Vector tool proficiency.
Homologation Experience: Familiarity with global homologation requirements, including durability and compliance testing.
Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading cross-functional test teams, managing large vehicle fleets, and driving execution in complex technical environments.
Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and able to ride and evaluate two-wheeled vehicles across a range of power levels.
Safety & Compliance Mindset: Commitment to safety standards, vehicle operation protocols, and regulatory compliance in all fleet activities.
The salary for this position ranges from $210,000 to $240,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
