About this Location:

The Renaissance Asheville is a 278 room hotel located in the heart of downtown Asheville, with plenty of greenscapes and sweeping views of the Smoky Mountains. The Blue Ridge Mountains are the perfect backdrop to explore North Carolina's best kept secret. We welcome guests to discover the unexpected as they journey through our neighborhood.

 

Why do we need you? 

To mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to patrons of bar, following standard recipes.

 

What you will do: 

  1. Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar daily. This includes requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, and condiments.
  2. May slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks. 
  3. Performs in compliance with established company policies and procedures. 
  4. Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner. Promotes and documents orders for drinks.
  5. Mixes, garnishes, and presents drinks using standard ingredients recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
  6. Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served.
  7. Performs in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. 
  8. Responsible for compliance with all state and local regulations pertaining to the public operation of the hotel’s bar area, including maximum safe occupancy, emergency exit accessibility, smoke-free area maintenance.
  9. Responsible for knowing and recognizing in-state and out-of-state drivers licenses and state-issued identification cards.
  10. Required to be always in uniform when working on the property, including wearing a name identification badge.
  11. Supports and adheres to the core values, the mission statement, service fundamentals, and guest service philosophy as defined by the company.  

 

Skills and abilities you bring: 

  • Use arithmetic to total costs and make change.
  • Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
  • Provide guests with information about hotel facilities, services, and local attractions.
  • Stand or walk for varying lengths of time, sometimes for long periods.
  • Move fingers and hands easily and quickly to handle things like dishes, money, and merchandise.
  • Lift and carry things like heavy trays.
  • Current Food Worker’s and Liquor Server’s Permit (if applicable)
  • Bartending experience preferred.

Schedule & Hours:

This position is considered on call. Schedule is variable, and may include holidays.

 

Physical Demands:

Medium work. Exerting up to 10 to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, and or requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
