About the Department

Reporting directly to the Warrants Supervisor, responsible for processing warrants of arrest, conditions of bond, final judgments, and orders of dismissal. Provides direction and information to the public on department and county procedures, regulations, and policies. 


* The vacancy related to this posting is in the Warrant Assignment on the 3-11PM shift.

Position Duties

  • Receives, enters, and tracks records and information including but not limited to arrest warrants, juvenile directives to apprehend, attempts to locate, indictments, conditions of bonds, and orders of dismissal
  • Serves as primary contact for the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) and National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS) as it pertains to warrant confirmations with local, state, and national law enforcement agencies
  • Receives and processes law enforcement messaging regarding an inmate’s status for transport, bond-outs, transfers, or sentencing
  • Prepares and distributes detainer letters when applicable
  • Sends arrest notifications to appropriate personnel
  • Provides and maintains complete and accurate records
  • Performs various in-house computer searches
  • Confirms and requests confirmations on warrants
  • Provides direct customer service either in person or on the telephone
  • Creates and maintains various reports related to assigned division
  • Creates and maintains forms, letters, worksheets, and informational materials
  • Ensures comprehensive filing systems are maintained and up to date
  • Enters and verifies data within applicable databases and/or systems
  • Cross-trains with office staff in other areas to ensure continuity of departmental operations
  • Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
  • Performs special duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying
  • Position may involve working day and/or overnight shifts


ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment
  • Contact with persons accused or convicted of crimes
  • Contact with law enforcement officials and public


IRREGULAR HOURS

  • Shift work, rotating weekends, and some holidays.  Shift assignments are subject to change at Sheriff’s discretion.
    • 7am-3pm
    • 3pm-11pm
    • 11pm-7am
  • This position is considered essential personnel

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of clerical experience in a professional office environment


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required within thirty (30) days of employment

  • Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) certification, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) certification, Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Two (2) years directly related warrants experience
