Job Title: Referral Coordinator (Part Time)
Reports To: Medical Records Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $20.05 - $27.07 per hour (DOE)
Bilingual English - Spanish Required
Summary:
The Referral Coordinator is responsible for receiving, processing, scheduling, and following up on all medical referral requests from assigned care team providers. This includes all in-house and outside referrals for diagnostic testing, medical specialists, or other providers.

Requirements
Qualifications - Education/Experience:
- High school diploma/GED and verifiable experience.
- At least one year of experience in a medical setting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, routines, and patient flow.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English and Spanish.
- Ability to work well as a team, exhibit integrity, use good judgment and keep confidential information.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality consistently.
- Proficient in computer use and common software.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and customer service practices in healthcare.
- Background in referral coordination or medical records.
- Prior work in a community health clinic or outpatient setting.
- Understanding of insurance authorization and referral workflows.
Required Vaccines and Test: Influenza, TB test, and Negative Drug Test results. Additional Vaccines may be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Process and track medical referrals from care team providers.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR system.
- Submit necessary forms and obtain insurance authorizations.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and referral agencies.
- Coordinate with internal departments to resolve patient issues.
- Follow up on incomplete referrals and ensure records are routed appropriately.
- Attend team meetings and training sessions.
- Support quality improvement efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
- Handle patient needs and referrals promptly and professionally.
- Maintain accurate and timely data entry in the EHR.
- Adhere to clinic policies, HIPAA regulations, and safety protocols.
- Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and teamwork.
Physical Demands: Duties are generally performed in an office environment where hazards and discomforts are controlled and modifiable.?This position requires the ability to stand, bend at the waist, kneel, reach over the head, talk, hear, and see. Must be able to move or lift documents and materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Position requires knowledge and use of typical office equipment including telephones, copiers, fax machines, and personal computers.?Position requires frequent contact with fellow employees, patients and community. Position may require travel to other sites for work assignments, meetings or training.
