Title: Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Technician
Department: Safety
Reports to: EHS Manager
Job Summary:
The EHS technician is responsible for implementing and maintaining a comprehensive EHS program developed to ensure a safe working environment, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the protection of our employees and the environment. This role is critical in fostering a culture of safety and sustainability throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with EHS policies and procedures that comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Ensure that these policies are effectively communicated to all employees.
- Identify potential hazards and conduct regular risk assessments.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies to prevent workplace accidents and incidents.
- Conduct training programs for employees on EHS practices, emergency response, hazard identification, and the proper use of safety equipment.
- Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents. Identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Conducts regular audits and inspections to monitor compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Help coordinate regular drills and ensure that all employees are prepared to respond effectively in the event of an emergency.
- Maintain accurate records of EHS activities, incidents, and compliance efforts.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in EHS practices and drive the implementation of best practices across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or equivalent certification in Occupational Health and Safety and Enviromental Science.
- 3+ years of experience in an EHS or related role, preferably within a manufacturing environment(s) or DoD.
- Proven track record of implementing EHS programs and initiatives.
- Familiarity with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and occupational health and safety standards (e.g., OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and detail-oriented approach, with a strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in various environments, including office settings, production floors, and outdoor sites.
- Occasional travel may be required to support multiple sites or attend training and conferences.
