Job description
We are seeking an experienced UKG Pro – Workforce Management (WFM) Consultant to support healthcare provider organizations in optimizing staffing, scheduling, and compliance. The consultant will configure and manage UKG Pro WFM solutions to streamline timekeeping, improve workforce utilization, and ensure compliance with labor regulations and healthcare staffing standards (e.g., patient-to-nurse ratios).
Key Responsibilities
Functional
- Partner with nursing, HR, payroll, and clinical operations teams to gather workforce requirements.
- Configure UKG Pro WFM modules for:
- Nurse and clinician scheduling
- Shift bidding and self-scheduling
- Time & attendance with healthcare-specific pay rules (e.g., on-call, differentials, overtime rules).
- Absence and leave management (FMLA, PTO, sick leave tracking).
- Implement labor forecasting to align staffing with patient census and acuity.
- Ensure compliance with state labor laws, union contracts, and staffing regulations (e.g., safe staffing ratios).
- Provide functional consulting on workforce optimization for hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities.
- Build and maintain integrations between UKG Pro WFM and healthcare systems such as:
- UKG Pro HR/Payroll
- ERP/HCM platforms (Oracle, Workday, SAP)
- Clinical/EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech).
- Develop and maintain custom reports & dashboards for:
- Overtime utilization
- Agency vs. internal staff usage
- Staffing ratio compliance
- Labor cost allocation to departments/units.
- Configure data interfaces, APIs, and real-time data feeds between UKG WFM and healthcare applications.
- Support testing, deployment, and post-go-live hypercare.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve WFM system issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years in WFM solution delivery; minimum 2+ years hands-on with UKG Pro WFM (or Kronos WFC/Dimensions) in healthcare settings.
- Deep understanding of healthcare-specific workforce rules, including:
- Patient acuity-based staffing
- Union & collective bargaining agreements
- Nursing shift differentials, on-call rules, and premium pay
- Compliance with FLSA, state healthcare staffing laws.
- Strong knowledge of payroll integrations and timekeeping policies.
- Hands-on experience with SQL, APIs, and reporting tools for UKG Pro.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with healthcare staffing optimization and labor forecasting models.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and healthcare labor regulations.
- Prior experience in large hospital systems, health plans, or integrated delivery networks (IDNs).
