As the Project Engineer – Transmission Lines, you will provide engineering and technical support for the development and delivery of transmission line projects at AusNet.

In this role, you will offer expert technical advice on both customer-initiated and company-driven projects across our transmission network. This includes projects involving high voltage (HV) and extra high voltage (EHV) conductors, towers, gantries, optical ground wire (OPGW) circuits, and associated infrastructure.

You’ll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, the design management and construction and commissioning teams to ensure projects are delivered cost-effectively, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

With a Hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in South Bank and is part of the Transmission Delivery Team. Sporadic travel will be required to AusNet Offices, Depots & Assets.

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:  

  • Contribute to the development of scopes and specifications for estimation. Produce and assess brownfield and greenfield transmission lines designs, providing technical input into staging, constructability, operability, maintainability and safety in design. Line design with PLS-CADD, Structure design and modelling using PLS-POLE and TOWER Foundation design. 
  • Contribute to the development of scopes and estimates for Transmission lines projects ensuring cost effective and constructible business cases can be delivered, including, supporting the development of project schedules and risk registers and providing engineering responses to commercial offers on customer projects. 
  • Identify opportunities to develop new or improved standards and to ensure the timely delivery of efficient solutions of complex technical engineering designs and standards, taking ownership of process improvement initiatives and development of new methods where necessary 
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Provide support to the estimation and schedule development activities. 
  • Identify opportunities to develop new, and update existing engineering standards 

 You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:   

Qualifications  

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering   

License requirements: N/A 

  • Full driving license required    

Registration:  

Register Engineer in Victoria (RPEV) required (at least eligibility) 

Experience:

  • Sound experience working in Transmission Line Design
  • Technical knowledge and experience in electricity networks engineering 
  • Simplify complex engineering analysis for non-engineers (e.g. summarising key decision-making during project development) 
  • Understanding of project lifecycles and application of engineering principals with design and construction knowledge covering performance, functionality, operation, maintenance and risks 
  • Experience working in transmission lines engineering, project delivery and/or design role
