About Campus Activities
The Campus Activities department significantly impacts the student experience for a campus of approximately 50,000 students. Campus Activities’ mission is to build community and foster leadership development through co-curricular opportunities that enhance the Trojan experience. The department is responsible for the key functional areas of Recognized Student Organization support and services, Student Government advisement and support, campus-wide student programming, and leadership of the Trojan Welcome Experience programming and planning. In collaboration with their direct reports, the coordinator for student government coordinates, oversees, advises, and implements support and resources for the USC undergraduate and graduate student government bodies.
About the Opportunity
The Coordinator for Student Government in Campus Activities is a key leader within USC Student Life and the university. The coordinator provides student leadership development advising and support for the Graduate Student Government and Undergraduate Student Government. The Program Coordinator assists with long-term planning, goal setting, policy development, and assessment for the organization. The coordinator assists their team with coordinating, designing, and delivering department policies and services focused on Student Government operations.
The Coordinator will assist Campus Activities and the Division of Student Life in the development and implementation of student engagement activities and leadership development for student government officers.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the overall management and administration of the Graduate Student Government (GSG) and Undergraduate Student Government (USG).
- Serve as advisor to all areas and branches of student government (GSG & USG).
- Conduct weekly meetings with GSG & USG executive officers, graduate advisors, and the Student Government unit of Campus Activities.
- Works collaboratively with campus partners to leverage and expand programming, leadership, and advocacy opportunities for undergraduate and graduate student government organizations.
- Lead programs and projects as assigned for the overall student experience.
- Recruit, train, and supervise undergraduate and graduate student workers.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of Student Government groups.
- Advise students on issues related to policy interpretation, conflict resolution, contract negotiation, and budgeting.
- Oversee Assessment & Learning Outcomes development for student government.
- Assist in the overall management of the student government budgets.
- Serve as liaison to USC departments on behalf of Campus Activities and Student Government.
- Positively represent student government and advocate for their needs to the USC administration.
- Assist with long-term planning, goal setting, and policy development for the organization.
- Approve and reconcile expenditures related to areas of oversight.
- Process financial requests for department units required for the role.
- Budget management and advisement to student government and student organizations.
- Vendor and other financial partners follow up.
- Participate on various Division of Student Life committees as assigned.
- Serve as an active member of the Campus Activities team assisting with the creation and implementation of large projects and student-facing initiatives.
- Connect with campus partners and Big Ten counterparts as required.
- Support the overall mission and goals of the division, department, and program initiatives within Student Life and Campus Activities.
- Frequent night and weekend work is required.

Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree
- Experience: 3 years in college student program planning and management
- Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
- Field of Expertise: Understanding and knowledge of event management, advisement, and student affairs

- Experience: 2 years

- Field of Expertise: Student personnel administration
The annual base salary range for this position is $66,000-68,800. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer alignment, federal, state, and local laws.
