Position: MIG Welder
Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (Monday - Friday)
Pay Rate: $23.00 - $24.00 (Depending on Experience)
Benefits/Incentive: Insurance Offered (Medical, Dental, Vision, etc.)

Qualdoc is looking for talented MIG Welders to support an industrial manufacturer in Richmond, VA. You will be responsible for welding a variety of metal and steel fabricated parts using welding equipment. This role requires the use of a variety of tools including a straight edge, combination square, and ruler. You will fabricate based on blueprints and shop drawings.


Duties:
  • Adjusts and uses torch and plasma cutter and/or grinder properly in standard/non-standard positions following engineering drawings.
  • Welds in vertical, flat, horizontal, or overhead positions.
  • Uses basic hand tools, such as tape measure, square, clamps, etc., to verify proper weld application and quality of weldments.
  • Examines work pieces for defects and ensures conformance with specifications.
  • Welds out components previously tack welded by experienced welders.
  • Prep and finish metal components by grinding or sanding.
  • Operates material handling equipment.
  • Operates overhead crane/hoist.
  • Responsible for movement of material or product and proper storage.
  • Must be physically able to wear required appropriate personal protective equipment including welding helmet, gloves, protective apron and/or leather attire, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, and fresh air/forced air respirator as required.
  • Performs MIG welding and some TIG welding.


    • You Must Have:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in manufacturing
  • 3.5 years of experience in MIG welding
  • Able to read shop drawings, blueprints, and engineering drawings
  • Able to read a tape measure, and ruler, and use measurement tools
  • Strong math skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs


    • Preferred Skills:
  • TIG welding is a plus
  • ERP experience preferred (JD Edwards)
