Description
BMC Transport, LLC, a subsidiary of Belstra Milling, is currently looking for a full-time diesel mechanic. This position reports directly to our Transportation Manager. Our transport division delivers feed in bulk to the Midwest region of the United States and has a transportation network of options to fit the bulk feed needs of our customers to ensure a timely and safe feed arrival. The mechanic must work in compliance with all the company policies, local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.
Job duties and responsibilities (included, but not limited to):
- Perform regularly scheduled maintenance on equipment
- Follow a regular preventive maintenance schedule for equipment, which includes lubrication, oil changes, and tire rotation
- Perform all repairs to equipment
- Mount tires as needed
- Keep the shop clean by sweeping and taking out the trash regularly
- Keep maintenance records and paperwork accurate and up-to-date
- Pick up parts from retailers as needed
Requirements
Skills and Requirements:
- Attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently or as a team
- Knowledge of tractor/trailer maintenance is a plus
- Adhere to companies’ strict biosecurity practices
- Valid driver’s license
- Tools preferred but are not required
Physical Demands:
- Ability to move 60 pounds of force
- Must be capable of performing work indoors and outdoors with exposure to seasonal weather conditions
- Climb ladders and stairs and work at heights with good body balance
- Operate machines, motor vehicles, hand tools, and job-specific equipment and tools
- This position requires the ability to walk, kneel, bend, climb, etc.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or G.E.D
- Certificate and/or an associate’s degree in diesel engine repair or service technology
- In field experience, minimum of 1 year
- Previous technical training preferred, but not required
