Performs professional level duties related to Human Resources, including responsibilities in at least three of the following functional areas: employee relations, compliance, recruitment, leave administration, benefits administration, HRIS administration, payroll, training, and events/recognition.
In this Role, you will be responsible for:
Employee Relations
- Partners with employees and management to administer and communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations
- Conducts employee relations counseling and exit interviews. Partners with leaders to coach employees regarding performance management
Compliance
- Ensures legal and ethical compliance with state and federal laws
- Maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual. Ensures that company and legal employment practices are followed
- Administers Visitor Management program and related employee communications and compliance
Recruitment
- Conducts recruitment of support positions (exempt and nonexempt); Leads the creation of a recruiting and interviewing plan for each open position and follows up with hiring leaders to ensure continued effectiveness; Works with leaders to create and maintain accurate and timely job postings
- Actively screens applicants for open positions, ensuring timely responses; Schedules interviews, and processes applicants through Applicant Tracking System; Coaches leaders through hiring process
- Maintains affirmative action program; files AAP, EEO-1 and Vets100 reports annually; maintains other records, reports and logs in conformance with EEO regulations
- Ensures hiring process is compliant with all policies and laws (including affirmative action) from requisition through hire
- Dispositions resumes and communicates hiring results to applicants
Leave Administration
- Administers FMLA and ADA requests, ensuring appropriate communication is maintained; Understands leave benefits that are available to employees under the individual circumstances, and offers as appropriate
- Manages Unemployment Insurance, Workers Compensation and Washington Paid Family Leave programs; educates and supports employees as needed
Benefits Administration
- Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees
- Assists with Open Enrollment
- Commute Trip Reduction program coordination and reporting
Safety
- Assists with administration of workplace safety programs, OSHA compliance and reporting, and supports Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager
- Participates in Safety Committee and administers safety equipment reimbursement program
HRIS Administration
- Compiles reports and trends analytical data
- Administers the compensation program; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary
Payroll
- Ensures accurate and timely payroll and W2 processing in accordance with company guidelines and in compliance with all federal and state compensation and tax regulations
- Delivers training for employee and management use of time/attendance/payroll system
- Ensures system accuracy, including employee change requests/records, audit and reporting requirements
- Processes employment verification, payroll deductions (benefit, voluntary and garnishment), reimbursements, bonus and adjustment payroll cycles
Training
- Administers and maintains the company Training Management System
- Compiles reports, analyzes data, identifies trends, and recommends appropriate action
- Leads the Training Steering Committee
Employee Recognition and Events
- Leads the Events Committee
- Creates an annual Engagement & Wellness calendar which supports diversity and encourages/garners broad participation
- Delivers a compelling and effective recognition program
- Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services provided
- Presents a competent and composed demeanor, representing the company with professionalism and discretion to all stakeholders (including but not limited to applicants, employees, contractors, vendors, and customers) to successfully advance the interests of the company
- Follows all environmental health and safety policies and procedures, models safe work practices
- Provides audit support as needed to internal and external customers
- Responsible for contributing to and supporting a positive and respectful workplace environment
- Ongoing self-development and personal growth as an employee
- Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or similar
- Two to five years’ experience as a Human Resources Specialist or Generalist in at least three of the following areas: Compensation, Employee Relations, Benefits, Recruiting, Leave Management, Compliance, HRIS, Payroll, Training, Recognition/Engagement
- Prior advanced use of HRIS, preferably ADP
- Strong understanding of State and Federal requirements and regulations
- Knowledge and experience in a professional business environment
- Better than average written and spoken communication skills
- Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching and development skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence business partners
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment
- Strong focus and attention to detail
- Time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and multi-task in a complex business environment
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
- Strong focus on customer service
- Ability to quickly master new business knowledge and technical skills
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- SHRM Certification or SPHR/PHR (Professional Human Resources) Certification is strongly preferred
**Must be authorized to work in the U.S. This position requires either a US Person (as defined in applicable export regulations) or a non-US person who is eligible to obtain required export authorization**
The target wage/salary range for this role may be within $80k - $90k, depending on education and experience. We may look at a broader range for the right candidate.
