STARTING HOURLY RATE: $25.94 - $27.13 (PLACEMENT DEPENDS ON SIMILAR EXPERIENCE HELD AND EDUCATION)

SUMMARY:
The Garde Manger assists Head Chef with regular kitchen duties and instructing students in the different kitchen skills and appliances. Prepares snacks, lunches, and catering for special events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepares food for lunches, snacks, catering, parties, and snack carts for the week.
- Participates in kitchen cleanup; washes dishes and organizes kitchen supplies.
- Plans menus for upcoming events.
- Instructs students on kitchen safety, proper appliance and tool uses, food service regulations and requirements, and methods of preparing food for single servings, large parties, and banquets.
- Assists with preparing weekly order request forms and meal planning for the upcoming week.
- Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND three years of restaurant or food service and hospitality experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
License and Certification Requirements:
Must possess a ServSafe Manger certification at the time of hire.
Possess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within the first 90 workdays of employment.

- Ability to maintain compliance with food safety regulations and standards.
- Ability to type and enter data with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a commercial kitchen environment and requires exposure to hot and cold temperatures, potentially dangerous equipment, and hazardous chemicals. May be required to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
