Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for DoD Maintenance Activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Powered Support Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. troubleshooting and repairing a variety of power support systems and equipment; troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems and equipment; and servicing and repairing air conditioning and refrigeration units. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical effort: Performs work which involves frequent bending, reaching, crouching, standing and arm movement. Frequently works in awkward positions or cramped areas. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to about 50 pounds and lifts heavier items using jacks, hoists, or helpers. Working Conditions: Works inside or outside. Frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperature and loud noise. Works on parts or systems that are dirty and greasy and is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, burns, bruises, strains, and electrical shock. Uses safety equipment such as protective eyeglasses, ear devices, hard hats, hard toe shoes, face masks, respirators, gloves and protective clothing. May occasionally be exposed to toxic refrigerants.
