About the Department

THIS POSITION IS DESIGNATED AS NON-BARGAINING UNIT AND THE INCUMBENT SHALL SERVE IN AN "AT-WILL" CAPACITY.

The Riverside Transit Agency is recruiting to fill a Currency Processor for the Finance Department. The Currency Processor prepares on-board revenues of the Agency’s directly-operated revenue fleet for transport to bank and assists with various office related tasks. 

Applicants must be available to work Monday and Thursday 8 AM - 4:30 PM.

Position Duties

The following duties are standard for this position.  The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.

 

COIN ROOM DUTIES

* Empties all cash from vaults into bin.

* Straightens and unfolds cash before feeding into bill counter.
* Places cash into bill counter and bundles cash into predetermined bundle amounts.
* Connects conveyor machine to vault in order to extrapolate coins from vault.
* Removes counterfeit and mutilated coins.
* Connects coin deposit bags to coin counting machine. Operates the conveyor belt, which feeds coins into hopper of counting machine that counts and bags them.
* Removes heavy coin bags and weighs bags of all counted coins.  
* Determines total cash deposit amount and prepares bank coin deposit slip, armored car deposit slip, and seals coin bags for completion. 
* May drive to Hemet facility during work hours in Agency vehicle to coordinate transport of Hemet vault to Riverside Coin Room 
* May assist with various office related tasks as needed.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements or distance.

 

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Possession of a valid non restricted California driver's license is required.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

Ability to perform heavy manual labor.  Ability to organize workload.  Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.

    • Must have no more than 1 Late Arrival within the last 12 months. 
    • Must have no more than 1 Attendance Point in the last year.  
    • Must have zero preventable accidents / max of 1 written warning in the last year.
    • Performance Appraisal ratings must be at or above "Meets Standards."

Applications will be evaluated and only qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the selection process which may include: a written exam (pass/fail), a performance exam (pass/fail), and an oral interview (100% weight). The examinations will be used to assess the applicant's knowledge, skills and abilities as they relate to the position. The selection procedures may change depending on the needs of the Agency; if such changes apply, qualified applicants will be notified prior to the administration of examinations.
