Description
- Assures the effective and efficient operations of the team by providing supervision and guidance to team staff members; having knowledge of persons supported, their needs, supports, and family; and by being physically present at all sites where team activities or operations are occurring on a regularly scheduled and unscheduled basis to observe, coach, and address concerns.
- Assures that people supported by the team are engaged in meaningful activities throughout the day by coordinating the overall team program planning and implementation process; assuring the implementation of an individual support plan for every person supported by the team; coordinating activities with service coordinators, health care providers, and administrative staff.
- Establishes quality and reliability standards for program implementation process by assuring that supports meet the standards and criteria established by agency, funding source, or other regulatory guidelines; assuring that team members adhere to the specifics of the service plan for each individual supported and are knowledgeable of the specific supports identified, the number of billable units, staffing requirements, documentation requirements, dates of service, etc.
- Assures that employment outcomes are realized for all persons supported who want to work by being knowledgeable of employment guidelines and funding; coordinating the activities of other agency staff involved in employment; continuously making employment outcomes a priority.
- Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training supervisors to coach and correct employees; scheduling management conferences with employees, hearing and resolving conflicts; counseling employees and supervisors.
- Ensures regulatory compliance of team operations by monitoring and implementing applicable state and federal requirements; investigating problems; maintaining records
- Achieves financial objectives by actively participating in the development of team budgets; monitoring compliance with operating budgets; making revisions in team activities and composition as required.
- Contributes to the team’s effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; and recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives.
- Ensures effective communication by being physically present at sites where team activities or operations are occurring; scheduling frequent meetings with management staff; responding to telephone calls and messages on a timely basis.
- Ensures that team maintains high quality management and direct support staff by participation in the selection and orientation process; assuring that staff have adequate skills to perform their essential job duties; providing or securing necessary training or retraining; focusing on best practice approaches; conducting periodic informational meetings.
- Ensures health and wellness of persons supported by the team by being familiar with the health care needs of persons supported, coordinating activities with agency health associates, and assuring that health care recommendations are implemented.
- Assures the maintenance of buildings, grounds, vehicles, equipment, and supplies used by the team by developing maintenance programs; reporting maintenance needs; and conserving resources.
- Maintains confidentiality by not revealing privileged information and records concerning persons supported, their families, or other agency staff, as well as any additional information concerning the agency, its staff, clientele, or operations which may be considered to be of a confidential nature.
- Assures continuity of supports provided by the team by substituting for team members in their absence (vacations, illnesses, etc.).
- Contributes to agency effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences and four years of experience in developmental disabilities or a related field, or a master’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences and two years experience in developmental disabilities or a related field, or any equivalent combination of college and experience.
Must possess demonstrated leadership ability, the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences both orally and in writing, the ability to oversee broad and detailed planning efforts, excellent computer skills, sensitivity to the needs of other people, an understanding and working knowledge of personnel and staffing issues, general knowledge of health and health care, and knowledge of programmatic planning and implementation.
Works both in offices and in home and community locations. Schedule may vary, including nights and weekends. Works effectively with minimal supervision.
