Job Title: Director Resident Care ALF

 

Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining 24-hour accountability for the administration and organization of resident care at ALF. Shapes and interprets the philosophy and definition of nursing as it relates to Assisted Living, program development, and quality assurance. Coordinates resident care and provides supervision of all nursing staff.  Provides clinical support to tenants at Independent Living facility as needed. This position is intended to maintain and enhance a therapeutic environment that promotes the quality of life of the residents.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensures that established standards, and policies and procedures are in compliance Periodically evaluates compliance with standards, reviews result of activities and takes appropriate action
  • Assists with development of departmental policies and procedures, and strategic plan development and communicates to employees
  • Supports, counsels, and acts as an advocate for tenants and family members
  • Participates in the admission, discharge and transfer of patients and coordinates nursing resources on behalf of tenants
  • Responds to and assesses emergencies and notifies family members as needed
  • Handles all risk management activities including incident investigation and medical record reviews Incident report summaries are prepared and concerns are reported immediately, issues are responded to and resolved

 

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in health-related field

 

Experience:

  • Three years clinical experience At least one year of management experience in acute or long-term care facility

 

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current Florida RN license
  • ALF Administrators course recommended
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License & Proof of Insurance

 

Abilities Required

  • Florida law and statutes related to assisted living facilities standards of care consistent with governing regulating agencies
  • Skills in decision-making, communication, human relations and quality improvement
  • Demonstrates a caring attitude toward MJHS residents, patients, family members, employees, and other facility guests

 

Functional Demands

Environment Work Conditions:

  • Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation

 

Infectious Material Exposure:

  • Routine exposure to blood and body fluids/tissues

  • Ensures that resident’s/patient’s rights are adhered to

  • Ensures confidentiality and security of patients’ medical information

  • Able to speak, read and write English
  • Able to think and act calmly to meet unusual occurrences of the job

  • Participates in departmental activities, meetings and in-services and follows established guidelines
  • Maintains a safe working environment
