The Boys & Girls Club of Clifton (BGCC) is seeking a passionate and experienced Early Childhood Director to lead our licensed early learning and school-age programs, including Gingerbread House, Kinderkare, and Before & After School programs at CELA sites. This leader will ensure children thrive in safe, nurturing, and engaging environments that reflect our mission of helping all young people reach their full potential.

We are a youth development agency committed to Positive Youth Development in every program, including in our renowned early childhood programs.
Position Overview:
The Early Childhood Director (ECD) is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and management of the Boys & Girls Club of Clifton’s (BGCC) Early Childhood Education Department (ECED). This department consists of school year and summer programs for Gingerbread House Day Care, KinderKare (currently enrolled in kindergarten), and CELA before and after school programs (currently enrolled in CPS pre-school). The ECD manages a team of part-time and full-time employees and is charged with staff recruitment, training, supervision, and support. Additionally, the ECD ensures compliance with NJDOH, NJDCF and other state and local agencies, while maintaining high-quality curriculum and care. The department's overarching goal is to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children ages 2.5–5.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
The essential functions or duties are provided for illustration only and may include other reasonable tasks as assigned for the good of the Club.
- Create a positive Club environment that promotes youth development in academics, character, and healthy lifestyles while serving as a mentor and role model.
- Manage staff and student conflicts, emergencies, and daily program operations with sound judgment and leadership.
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate ECED staff, ensuring compliance with NJDCF licensing regulations and maintaining accurate records.
- Oversee curriculum, program spaces, and partnerships with schools to support safe, age-appropriate, high-quality learning experiences.
- Collaborate with leadership on goals, budgets, staff development, and fulfill mandated reporting and other assigned duties.
Physical Demands:
Standing, walking, run/ jog (occasionally during program), leaning, bending, sitting. Must be able to lift 30lbs.
Education / Certifications requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field. P-3 preferred.
- Must attain CPR/ First Aid and Child Abuse certifications within 90 days of hire.
Other Requirements:
Frequent traveling to offsite programs.
Work Schedule:
This is a 12 month position.
Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000 annually
