The Assistant School Principal is directly responsible for the following duties:
- Assisting in the administration and supervision of programs, services and facilities of the school.
- Assisting in the planning, coordination, implementation and improvement of the educational programs and assessments at a building level in collaboration with the district-wide administrative team.
- Assisting in the evaluation of faculty and staff members.
- Act as the lead discipline and investigatory agent for the building in response to student conduct.
- Provide support to teachers ands staff regarding student needs.
- Updating and maintaining building-level Safety Plan (ERP), adhering to emergency protocols, and co-coordinating drills, training, and pre/post-event reviews as necessary.
- Assisting with the orientation and support for all new building personnel as well as new students and parents.
- Coordinating building and facility usage.
- Understanding education law, policies of the Board of Education and the District safety plan related to the management of the school including, but not limited to DASA, emergency procedures, and building/district Codes of Conduct.
- Attending professional meetings and conferences that pertain to the position.
- Assisting in the establishment of a positive building climate for the staff members, students, parents and community.
- Performing any additional duties, while administering and supervising all activities in the Building Principal's absence.
Qualifications:
- Successful candidates must currently hold NYS certification in SDL, SAS or SBL.
- Candidates must have:
A clear educational philosophy including appropriate classroom/student management strategies
Thorough understanding of school operations
Elementary classroom and/or administration experience
Ability to coordinate building/campus activities
Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Ability to implement District policy and procedures
Ability to interpret data and facilitate data driven decision making.
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
