Job Summary

O.W. Erlewine Elementary School is a proud and integral part of the Sacramento City Unified School District, serving a vibrant K-6 student population in the College-Glen neighborhood of Sacramento. Erlewine's mission is to provide every child with a safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment where academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and student voice are at the center of our work. O.W. Erlewine has long been a close-knit school community known for its strong relationships, dedicated staff, and commitment to student success. With an enrollment of approximately 230 students, Erlewine reflects the diversity of Sacramento: over 60% of students are from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, 17% are English Learners, and nearly 13% receive Special Education services. The school also benefits from a strong partnership with a loving and engaged Parent Teacher Association (PTA), whose support enriches the school culture and contributes meaningfully to student and staff well-being. The next principal of O.W. Erlewine Elementary School will be expected to: Foster a Welcoming, Inclusive, and Collaborative School Culture Create a school climate where all students, families, and staff feel seen, valued, and supported through an ethic of care, relationship-centered leadership, and culturally responsive practices. Advance Instructional Excellence in Literacy, Language, and Mathematics Lead the development of high-quality Tier 1 instruction in English Language Arts (ELA), English Language Development (ELD), and mathematics. The principal will support collaborative, data-driven practices to improve instructional coherence and student achievement in core academic areas, ensuring equitable access and growth for all learners-especially English Learners, students with disabilities, and historically underserved student groups. Requirements / Qualifications

TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree from an approved institution is required. Advanced degrees are preferred. A minimum of five years of certificated experience in public or private schools is required, and preference will be given for additional elementary school teaching experience, administrative, or supervisorial experience at the elementary level. Preference given to bilingual speakers, and expertise in vital programs within individual schools including, but not limited to, STEAM, Montessori, Dual Immersion, Waldorf, etc. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Hold a valid Administrative Services Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is required.
