Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with STIHL Inc., STIHL Ltd., and Andreas Stihl AG & Co. KG to prepare, validate and complete reporting to various US and Canadian state, provincial and federal agencies as required by regulations. This would include coordination with STIHL Inc. departments such as Purchasing, Logistics, Procurement, Product Management, EHS, and Import. Maintain databases and records for all reporting activities and agency correspondence. 
  • Monitor and analyze proposed legislation impacting STIHL products, design, packaging, and chemical use and assess the potential impact. Communicate these new requirements to Andreas Stihl AG & Co. KG, STIHL Inc., STIHL Ltd., STIHL Branches and Distributors, and affected suppliers and develop the appropriate responses. 
  • ​​Participate in industry associations (OPEI, PTI) that monitor these legislations and work with the associations to develop and implement lobbying strategies that could influence these regulations. 
  • Assist with the development and continuous improvement of compliance software and tools that improve the efficiency and accuracy of reporting. Manage SAP interface in collaboration with ANDREAS STIHL. 
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and other materials to communicate the status of these regulatory activities. 
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Specifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preference for engineering, environmental science, environmental engineering or Environmental Policy and Management, Industrial Ecology or a related field)
  • ​​Dangerous Goods certification; RCRA, OSHA (HazCom and GHS) knowledge preferred
  • 3-5 years work experience
  • Less than 5% travel required
  • Skills desired: proficiency with SAP and Excel; skilled at coordinating cross-functional teams and managing multiple reporting deadlines; ability to read and interpret legislation; strong attention to detail for creating and maintaining reporting documentation
