BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, physical, and social/emotional growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. The MTSS Coach will provide job embedded professional development and procedural support in the areas of classroom management, Response to Intervention, Social-Emotional Learning, and Restorative Practices. The MTSS Coach will be responsible for developing, leading, implementing, monitoring, and collaborating with other educators in the school-wide integration of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support in addition to communicating with parents and working on campus committees.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and valid Texas Teacher Certificate with required endorsements and a minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Instructional Support: The MTSS Coach will provide instructional support by providing informal and/or formal coaching cycles with classroom teachers at the direction of an administrator, solicit and provide specific feedback, and participate in and provide professional development.

 

  • Conduct classroom observations of teachers to provide feedback and coaching on the fidelity of implementation of the BISD MTSS Model.
  • Set student-centered goals with teachers for coaching cycles, using district approved data as a
  • Demonstrate a specific strategy in classrooms, such as co-teaching or modeling, and collaborate with classroom teachers on the effectiveness of the strategy.
  • Conduct coaching conferences throughout the cycle using appropriate communication and questioning
  • Provide non-evaluative targeted verbal and written feedback from walkthroughs using communication
  • Provide regularly scheduled and as-needed professional development to campus and district faculty and
  • Train and coordinate campus staff to be campus-based mentors for students in Behavior
  • Train and support the campus in the implementation of Tier 1 Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports including classroom and campus-wide acknowledgement systems.
  • Work collaboratively with staff members to determine student-centered instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to District requirements.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing. To include but not limited to: progress monitoring, Daily Behavior Report Card data and analysis, Universal Behavior Screener data analysis, and Social/Emotional competencies.
  • Help students, teachers, and campus leadership teams analyze Social Emotional Learning survey data and identify strategies to address areas of need of improvement and areas to enhance.
  • Support the campus in implementation of Social Emotional Learning curriculum and assist campus leadership in monitoring the fidelity of the curriculum’s delivery.
  • Support and participate in meeting the objectives of the campus, department, and district improvement
  • Support students enrolled in various programs by implementing plans administered by the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee, Section 504 Committee, Response to Intervention Committees, and Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee.
  • Provide instruction in accordance with Bastrop ISD approved curriculum and required

 Student Management:

  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Implement multi-tiered systems of support including Positive Behavioral Intervention Systems, Restorative Practices, Trauma Informed Practices and Social Emotional Learning.
  • Monitor and report student progress according to campus and District guidelines in a timely
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and
  • Resolve parent/student issues and concerns in a timely
  • Be a positive role model for
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and the Student
  • Communicate with parents or guardians regarding student progress and performance using district-approved communication protocols.
  • Conduct classroom observations of students to inform the selection of appropriate interventions and to maintain the fidelity of intervention delivery.
  • Serve as a campus-based mentor to a caseload of students in Behavior RTI to provide daily check-ins, instructional feedback, acknowledgement, and goal setting on Daily Behavior Report Cards (DBRC).
  • Develop and deliver individual and group lessons according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative guidelines that incorporate accommodations for differences in student learning styles, (including targeted Social Skills lessons based on the school-Wide Expectations of Safe, Respectful, and Responsible).
  • Use appropriate and district approved instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  • Help students analyze and improve demonstration of School Wide Expectations of Safe, Respectful, and Responsible behaviors by providing frequent feedback on areas of strength and identifying replacement behaviors to address areas of need.

 Management of Administrative, Fiscal and/or Facilities Functions:

  • Develop and submit lesson plans, including substitute lesson plans, as required utilizing the District provided
  • Work collaboratively with District staff to serve the needs of all student groups according to the guidelines established in policy.
  • Assist in monitoring students and creating a safe campus environment by reporting to duty assignments as assigned by the principal or the Director of Student Services.

  • Compile, maintain, and submit reports, records, and other documents, as
  • Plan and supervise assignments of volunteers in the classroom, when
