Special Education Aide
Location: Mountain Sunrise Academy, Saratoga Springs, UT
Start Date: Mid September
Employment Type: Full time
About Our School
At Mountain Sunrise Academy, we hold a deep reverence for childhood and believe that every student brings unique gifts to share with the world. Guided by the principles of Waldorf education, our teachers and staff work together to nurture the whole child—head, heart, and hands—through a rich and balanced curriculum. Our school community values beauty, rhythm, creativity, and connection as we support children in their growth and learning.
About the Role
We are seeking a Special Education Aide who is eager to walk alongside our students with warmth, patience, and care. In this role, you will support children with diverse learning needs, helping them access the curriculum while remaining rooted in the classroom community. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to create a compassionate, supportive environment where each child can thrive.
What You’ll Do
Provide gentle, individualized support for students, both one-on-one and in small groups.
Help adapt lessons and activities in ways that honor the Waldorf approach—through art, movement, storytelling, and hands-on experience.
Encourage participation in the life of the class, including festivals, artistic work, and time in nature.
Observe and share insights about students’ growth, challenges, and successes with teachers and support staff.
Assist in carrying out individualized learning plans (IEPs and goals).
Offer emotional and behavioral support in ways that are respectful, compassionate, and rooted in human dignity.
Accompany students on walks, field trips, and community experiences, ensuring safety and belonging.
Assist with daily transitions, seating, and mobility, while fostering independence.
Help care for the classroom environment so that it remains orderly, clean, and beautiful.
Work in partnership with parents, teachers, and colleagues, always honoring confidentiality.
What We’re Looking For
Experience or training in special education is helpful, though not required.
Familiarity with Waldorf education—or a sincere interest in learning about it.
A patient, kind, and flexible presence with children.
Strong communication and a spirit of collaboration.
A willingness to grow as part of a supportive school community.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay is commensurable with experience, medical/dental/vision benefits, paid time off, 401K, and professional development opportunities
