LifeSpire of Virginia is looking for an Environmental Services Supervisor to support our community in Newport News!
GENERAL OVERVIEW
The Environmental Services Supervisor provides operational supervision to all Laundry and Housekeeping team members as directed by the Environmental Services Manager. Individual must ensure and maintain overall housekeeping quality in areas throughout the entire campus. They execute standard housekeeping, laundry, floor care, and supervisory procedures in all areas of The Chesapeake as assigned. Individual is to consistently follow facility and departmental guidelines, policies, procedures, techniques, and regulations as outline in the team member handbook and as directed by management.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Mission, Values and Vision of Life Spire of Virginia.
- Ensure that all aspects of all staff job routines are being completed on a daily basis with a high level of quality.
- Working ALL job routines in ALL areas as needed due to staffing levels, projects, training, etc.
- Ensure adequate supply levels are in stock for staff to carry out their job routines properly.
- Develop and maintain a continuous positive relationship Communicate and communicate regularly with team members, residents, family members, vendors, management, etc.
- Assume full responsibility of housekeeping and laundry departments in the EVS Manager’s absence.
- Assure compliance at all times of departments and company policies, procedures, regulations, guidelines, expectations, etc.
- Promote and exemplify a positive “can and will do” attitude.
- Carry out the highest levels of Customer Service and Leave Them Smiling Hospitality.
- Organize projects, staffing patterns, work areas, and prioritize tasks appropriately.
- Aid and assist Environmental Services Manager in creation of operational systems, schedules, projects, events, quality control measures, etc.
- Assist EVS Manager, and participate in all levels of team member development, disciplinary action, annual evaluations, etc.
- Assist team members with all projects, as well as daily tasks within their routines.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age with a High School diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of standard housekeeping, laundry, and floor care procedures and equipment.
- Ability to provide housekeeping services in a health care environment which meet or exceed The Chesapeake quality care and service standards.
- Organizational and social skills. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with supervisor, team members, residents, and families.
- Ability to work independently, handle detailed work, be self -motivated, follow exact instructions. Remain flexible and handle themselves in a courteous, caring, positive, and professional manner.
- Have at least beginning’s level in computer literacy and skills.
- Previous gerontology care and supervisory experience preferred.

WORKING HOURS AND ENVIRONMENT
Some evening, weekend, and holiday hours are required as schedule and business needs dictate.
Work in inside and outside environments. Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to
dust, fumes, odors, water, etc. as well as some noises. Must be able to tolerate exposure to
weather, fluctuations in temperature (hot/cold), wet, and/or humid conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- The team member must be able to complete tasks that involve fingering such as picking, pinching, or otherwise working with fingers.
- The team member must be able to complete tasks that seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands as well as be able to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
- The team members may be subject to sights, sounds, and bodily odors inherent in healthcare, particularly the care of the elderly.
