Position Reports To: Hospital Administration
Job Overview:
The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the veterinary hospital by ensuring the facility is clean, safe, and well-maintained. This role will assist with routine maintenance, janitorial services, supplies management, and minor repairs to ensure a functional and efficient environment for both patients and staff. The Facilities Coordinator will work closely with the management team to help maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety within the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
Repairs and Maintenance:
Identify and report any facility-related issues, such as leaks, broken equipment, or electrical malfunctions, and perform repairs when possible (e.g., changing light bulbs, fixing leaky faucets, or adjusting doors).
Assist with the installation and setup of furniture, equipment, and fixtures within the hospital as needed.
Coordinate with external contractors or service providers for major repairs, maintenance, or specialized work (e.g., HVAC servicing, plumbing, or electrical repairs).
Supplies and Inventory Management:
Maintain and organize supplies and equipment required for cleaning and general maintenance (e.g., cleaning solutions, paper towels, trash bags, etc.).
Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies, alerting management when items need to be reordered.
Ensure that all necessary maintenance tools and supplies are readily available and in good working condition.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety and environmental health regulations while performing duties, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials (e.g., sharps, medications, cleaning agents).
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, infection control procedures, and hospital-specific safety protocols.
Maintain safety signage (e.g., wet floor signs) and ensure that fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency exits are properly maintained and accessible.
Facility Maintenance and Cleaning:
Ensure cleanliness and organization of all common areas, treatment areas, and medical spaces in compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
Ensure that all surfaces, floors, and equipment are sanitized regularly to maintain a sterile environment, particularly in high-touch or high-risk areas such as surgical and treatment rooms.
Clean and disinfect as needed, as well as manage waste disposal.
General Facility Organization:
Help organize and maintain storage areas for medical equipment, supplies, and other hospital materials.
Ensure that all areas, including animal holding spaces, are free from clutter and organized to promote smooth hospital operations.
Customer and Staff Support:
Assist hospital staff with any requests related to the upkeep of the facility or moving heavy items as needed.
Ensure the environment is welcoming, clean, and comfortable for both clients and their pets.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Experience in hospital, veterinary, or commerical healthcare environments (preferred).
Knowledge of HVAC servicing, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 40 lbs) and perform physical tasks.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and manage time effectively.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, pet-friendly environment.
Work Schedule:
Part-time position (hours and days are flexible, with a minimum of 15-20 hours per week).
Occasional evening or weekend shifts may be required based on facility needs.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
Must be able to tolerate moderate to heavy physical activity during shifts.
