Position Type / Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a full-time position that works on average 40 or more hours a week.   Regularly scheduled days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Due to the group home environment, the person in this position must be able to work some nights, weekends, and holidays, based on the needs of the home, and at the discretion of the direct supervisor and/or CEO.   

Summary: 

The Residential Manager assumes oversight for the care, treatment, and development of residents in a licensed adult foster care home.

Essential Functions: 

This is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of job functions.  This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee.  The employee is required to follow any other instructions, and to perform any other duties, as assigned.  

The essential functions of this position include:

Program Administration 

  • Ensure that residents are granted all rights and respect due them.
  • Active participation in the individual plan of service process for all residents.
  • Monitor the physical health of residents, ensure that physician orders and clinical team orders are implemented; assure that appropriate dietary standards and requirements are met.
  • Monitor the implementation of individual plans of service.
  • Create and maintain a comfortable, homelike environment.
  • This position may occasionally be “hands on”, and the manager will need to complete the duties of direct care staff to assure the needs of the residents are met.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by Pioneer Resources, The Department of Health and Human Services, HealthWest, CARF, Pace, and other regulatory bodies, including HUD, if applicable, and assure that the home is operated in accordance with same.
  • Monitor the group home budget.
  • Perform administrative functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the home.
  • Ensure the home is maintained with a high level of cleanliness and safety, including requesting necessary home and vehicle maintenance.
  • Work cooperatively with support coordinators and clinical personnel to assure residents are treated with dignity and that the plans of service reflect individual preferences and sound judgment.
  • May provide emergency transportation for residents in non-DOT agency vehicles. 

Personnel Management

  • Hire, schedule, supervise, mentor and evaluate support staff who work in the group home.
  • Make sure all personnel have appropriate credentials and training.
  • Develop opportunities for in-service training and skill enhancement.
  • Assure that employees follow safety practices and agency policies and procedures.
  • Conduct staff meetings as needed and lead a team effort to assure safety and quality.

Other duties as required or assigned. 

Education/Talent Requirements: 

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that is acceptable according to Pioneer Resources’ Policy.
  • Computer skills including the use of email, word processing and spreadsheets.
  • The ability to work respectfully and courteously with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize both self and others’ workloads and work with minimal supervision; high degree of self-direction.
  • Solid reasoning skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must pass all required background checks, physicals, and drug screens. If the background check reveals disqualifying information, employment shall be terminated unless the disqualifying information was successfully appealed as inaccurate, expunged or set aside.

Work Experience Requirements: 

  • Previous experience working directly with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory capacity. 

Travel: 

Must be willing and able to travel up to 25% for meetings, trainings and conferences.   Total travel expected to be less than 10%.  Company vehicle is not typically supplied; use of personal vehicle may be required.   However, this position is expected to maintain an acceptable driving record and adhere to all company drug-free workplace policies, as specified above, in order to operate a non-DOT agency vehicle as needed/authorized.  

Work Environment: 

This position works in close proximity to people. While the majority of working time is spent indoors in a residential environment or office, employees in this position may work outdoors in all seasons for short periods of time, e.g. assisting a resident into a vehicle, taking a resident into the community, snow removal, etc.  

Physical Demands of the Job:

Medium work. No more than 50 pounds with frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

  • This employee must be able to move, lift, or otherwise assist residents with transfers in and out of vehicles, wheel chairs, beds, shower trolleys/chairs, and other furniture.
  • Must be able to provide personal care, and perform household cleaning duties.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Manual dexterity is required to prepare food, administer medications and treatments, and to record information in writing, or through use of a keyboard or similar device.
  • Must be able to perform emergency procedures and evacuations of the home or vehicle as required.
