CK Snacks, a leading co-manufacturer of popcorn, extruded snacks, corn chips, tortilla chips, pellets, and private-label snacks across the USA, is experiencing exciting growth! Our recent acquisition of facilities in Illinois and Wisconsin sets the stage for continued momentum. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to join our dynamic team and help ensure the timely availability of materials to support our operations and product launches.
The Ideal Candidate
- Procurement Expertise: Experience creating and managing purchase orders, coordinating with suppliers, and monitoring vendor performance.
- Planning Skills: Familiar with developing material requirements plans (MRP) based on forecasts, inventory levels, and production schedules.
- Inventory Management: Skilled at monitoring inventory levels, conducting cycle counts, reconciling discrepancies, and maintaining optimal stock.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work closely with R&D, Finance, Production, and Quality teams to support product launches and resolve supply-related issues.
- Analytical & Organized: Strong attention to detail, ability to analyze trends, and exceptional organizational skills.
- Food Industry Experience: Experience in the food or snack industry is strongly preferred, especially in a co-manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain material requirements planning (MRP) to align with production schedules and forecasts.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring adequate supply while minimizing excess and obsolete stock.
- Conduct cycle counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies; prepare and distribute weekly inventory reports to co-manufacturers.
- Create and manage purchase orders in the ERP system and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries.
- Monitor supplier performance, resolve supply issues, and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Partner with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams to support new product launches and troubleshoot material-related challenges.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings and provide updates on procurement strategies and material availability.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory; generate reports on inventory status, purchase orders, and supplier performance.
