Job Summary:

Leads the outpatient department in the delivery of clear and accurate Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans to physicians for diagnosing purposes. Supervises and mentors MRI personnel. Oversees quality assurance and maintains equipment. Acts as an expert clinician who demonstrates a high level of knowledge/expertise, and is a leader/resource to the healthcare team.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in radiological technology: Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in radiological technology or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): Preferred
  • Five years' technical experience: Preferred
  • Two years' leadership experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology (ARRT-R) or Magnetic Resonance (ARRT-MR) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT): Required
  • Radiologic Tech (RT) in the state of practice: Preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
  • Fluoroscopy license in state of employment: Preferred in CA
  • Venipuncture certification: Required in CA
  • ARRT-Radiography (ARRT-R) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) or ARRT-Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT-MRI): Required

Facility Specific License/Certifications:

  • Venipuncture (IV) certification: Required

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews daily schedule and assigns staffing, equipment and supplies accordingly. Prioritizes emergent procedures, minimizes patient waits and optimizes turn-around times.
  • Uses and oversees the use of equipment to direct strong magnetic fields and radio frequencies to create 3D images of a patient's body tissues and capture quality images that describe the composition, shape and pathology of tissues. Summarizes, documents, verifies and presents images, findings, calculations and measurements to physicians for diagnoses. Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations, standards and protocols.
  • Maintains accurate records, files and billing information. Ensures the integrity of patient medical images and data while adhering to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations.
  • Supervises and mentors personnel, including orientation, training and development, scheduling and monitoring for performance improvement opportunities.
  • Performs routine maintenance and calibration of equipment and manages supply inventory.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
